Continue to the County Cider Company, a must-see destination. Here the beauty of the region is captured with all that is unique and magical about the County in every bottle of cider crafted. Visit Waupoos Estate Winery, located on the shores of Lake Ontario and the first winery to open its doors in Prince Edward County. Accommodations this evening will be at the Picton Harbour Inn. This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Ontario’s newest wine and culinary destination. It is close to golf, shopping, fishing, kayaking, a craft brewery, cider maker, cheese factory, many studios, galleries, and more! DAY 2: JUNE 14, 2019
Check out of the hotel this morning for your travel to Bloomfield, a key destination on Prince Edward County’s Taste and Arts Trails. Bloomfield is where friends gather for fine dining, cozy pubs, cafes, tearooms, wineries, handcrafted ice cream, fresh pastries, homemade bakery goodies, home décor and gift shops. It is a shopper’s delight, a vibrant arts community, a flourishing farm community and an historic settlement. Quaker and Loyalist roots, graceful homes, well-tended gardens, and businesses housed in historic buildings all reflecting a pride of place dating back to the Barley Days of the 19th Century. Enjoy a tasting and lunch at Huff Estates Winery. Huff’s state-of-the-art facility has the grape processing area and fermentation tanks sitting on top of a hill, allowing for a natural gravity flow into a temperature-controlled barrel cellar below, which sits just behind the tasting room. Sample wine at Karlo Estates, one of the best little tasting experiences in the county. Here the milking area of the circa 1880 barn was renovated to house a production area, tanks, and barrels as well as a tasting room in the centre of the barn. Begin your journey home making a stop to browse the store at Prince Edward County Lavender Farm. Continue to a Taste of Country in Belleville. (B, L)
